Walnut Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 medium bananas, divided
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

Turn the oven on to 350°F. Grease a 9-by-5 loaf pan with nonstick cooking oil. Place a strip of parchment paper down the short sides and bottom of the dish. Reapply the nonstick spray. Put aside.

Using a fork, mash two of the bananas in a medium-sized bowl until they are somewhat lumpy.

Thinly slice the remaining banana and reserve.

Beat the butter and sugar together in a big bowl.

Add the vanilla and eggs, stirring to combine thoroughly.

Stir in the sour cream, baking soda, mashed bananas, and salt until well combined.

The flour is then added and mixed until combined.

Add the banana slices, chocolate chips, and walnuts and fold them in.

Transfer the mixture into the ready-made pan and bake for fifty to sixty minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle emerges clean.

After allowing the banana bread to cool in the pan for fifteen minutes, carefully remove it from the pan and let it to cool on a wire rack, using the parchment paper as handles.

FAQs AND QUESTIONs

How to Reheat Banana Bread

If the bread was frozen, melt it entirely first, like I mentioned previously. Next, wrap the loaf in foil and preheat the oven to 350°F. It will be like new after heating it for ten to fifteen minutes.

Another fantastic method to enjoy a warm slice without reheating the entire loaf is to toast leftover banana bread slices!

Indeed, you can use the microwave to reheat a slice of banana bread, but it’s never a recommended approach due to uneven heating.

However, if you’re in a rush, you may cook a slice for 10 to 12 seconds and it’ll be OK!

Do You Have to Add Nuts to Chocolate Chip Banana Bread?

Nope! If nuts aren’t your thing, you can absolutely omit them. You can even add in a few extra chocolate chips, or even leave the chocolate chips out! My Banana Bread recipe is a great one to adapt. You can even try adding different flavor combinations of chips and nuts!

What Kind Of Nuts Can You Add To Banana Bread?

You could easily sub in pecans in place of the walnuts in this recipe. I would recommend using a softer nut, like a walnut or pecan, just to keep the texture of the bread at its bread. If you would like to experiment with say, pistachios or peanuts in this recipe, just make sure to chop them!
