Thanks giving Leftovers Casserole (freezable!) Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 2-3 cups stuffing
- 7-10 slices roasted turkey, or enough shredded turkey to generously cover the stuffing.
- 2/3 cup gravy
- 2 cups green bean casserole (or other veggie)
- 1 cup cranberry sauce
- 3-4 cups mashed potatoes
TOPPINGS
- 1 1/2 cups shredded white cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup French’s Fried Onions
INSTRUCTIONS
Set oven temperature to 350°F.
Stuffing should be layered at the bottom of your casserole. This will serve as the base of your casserole, so be sure to fill the bottom completely. Add as much stuffing as you wish if you enjoy it.
Cover the filling with sliced or shredded turkey. If using shredded turkey, I recommend using lots or overlapping the slices. The centerpiece of your dish should be the turkey.
Drizzle a generous portion of gravy onto the turkey.
Add your veggie of choice, such as green bean casserole, next. Evenly distribute it.
You can drizzle tiny dollops of the cranberry sauce over the beans. It can be uniformly distributed or left in dollops.
Cover with a generous helping of mashed potatoes. I find that it looks more appealing when the potatoes are not scattered to the edges.
Distribute the cheddar cheese over the potatoes. Tent with foil (use toothpicks if needed to hold the foil off the casserole top; you don’t want it adhering to the cheese).
Bake for about forty-five minutes, or until heated thoroughly. For the final ten to fifteen minutes, uncover the dish. Note: To obtain some browning on your casserole, temporarily place it under the broiler if it appears pale. Take caution, as it might quickly catch fire.
Top with the fried onions and serve hot.
NOTES
The precise proportions of the ingredients will change depending on what you have and your casserole dish. Consider my figures to be a starting point; there is a lot of room for error.

WHAT MAKES THIS THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS CASSEROLE DIFFERENT?
This casserole, which can be made with any leftover Thanksgiving food, is the epitome of comfort food. This is not a dish made of leftover turkey, noodles, and canned soup; rather, it’s your Thanksgiving dinner done a little differently. In fact, you’re going to love this if you’re the kind of person who enjoys getting a little bit of everything on your fork when eating.
There are two methods to prepare it: most years we stack our leftovers, but on a few occasions when we were the only ones celebrating Thanksgiving, this casserole ended up being our holiday meal! When that happens, I turn on the heat and serve our grocery store’s sliced turkey with trimmings.
