Testy Smoked Chicken Recipe – Learn like a pro:- This recipe calls for coating an entire chicken with a homemade spice rub and slow-smoking it until it’s perfectly juicy and tender. I’ve never tasted chicken like this before; it’s so flavorful and so simple to prepare.

The most recent recipe I’ve smoked is a full chicken. Now that I’ve given you a taste of some staples, including smoked chicken wings and thighs, it’s time to tackle a full bird!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 recipe chicken brine optional but recommended
  • 4-5 lb. whole chicken
  • 1/4 cup BBQ Spice Rub
  • parsley for garnish optional

INSTRUCTIONS

Follow the instructions in the brine recipe (found in the ingredients list) to prepare the chicken brine. Soak the chicken in a 24-hour brine.

You can still achieve good results even without brining the chicken if you’re pressed for time.

Set the smoker’s temperature to 250°F. Fill the smoker with your preferred kind of wood chips, such as apple wood chips.

After taking the chicken out of the brine, pat it dry. Use kitchen twine to secure the legs of the bird and tuck the wings under it.

After putting the chicken in a single-use aluminum pan, rub the spice mixture over it. Make sure to work some of the seasoning directly onto the meat beneath the skin to loosen it up.

In the smoker, place the chicken. A thermometer placed into the thickest part of the thigh should read 165 degrees Fahrenheit after 3.5–4.5 hours of smoking. Throughout the cooking process, you will need to restock wood chips, so pay attention to your smoker.

After taking the chicken out of the smoker, give it ten minutes to rest.

Put the chicken onto a serving dish. If desired, garnish with parsley. Once the chicken is carved, serve.

NOTES

To ensure that the chicken does not adhere to the pan, lightly mist it with cooking spray.

To cut down on mess, I prefer to use disposable aluminum pans.

Brush the entire chicken with the barbecue rub. Take off the chicken’s skin and lightly pat the outside of the bird and the meat together with a few of the seasonings.
