Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp Skewers Recipe :- The further autumn approaches, the more regretfully grilling season is coming to an end (sigh). I wanted to try these Grilled Teriyaki Shrimp Kabobs and a couple more grilling dishes.
Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp Skewers Recipe
I am attempting to enjoy this nice weather while I can since they make me think of a tropical paradise.
However, there is still soup and slow cooker season to look forward to after that.
Ingredients
- 1 pound jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined
- 1 20 oz can pineapple chunks drained
- 1 cup teriyaki sauce
- kosher salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 to 3 cups cooked jasmine rice
- Optional: sriracha mayo, green onions
Instructions
Place the pineapple and shrimp onto six kabob skewers.
Brush the kabobs with some of the leftover teriyaki sauce after setting aside half of it. Add crushed red pepper flakes, pepper, and kosher salt.
Set the grill’s temperature to medium-high. After the grill is hot, cook the kabobs for a total of five minutes. Turn halfway through and drizzle with additional teriyaki sauce all over.
Serve the kabobs with the rice and the reserved teriyaki sauce, along with green onions and sriracha mayo, if preferred.

FAQsÂ
Can I use frozen shrimp for this recipe?
Yes, you can use frozen shrimp, but make sure to thaw them completely before marinating and grilling. Thaw them in the refrigerator overnight or under cold running water for quicker thawing.
How long should I marinate the shrimp?
Ideally, marinate the shrimp for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate. You can marinate them for up to 2 hours for more intense flavor. However, avoid marinating them for too long as the acid in the marinade can start to “cook” the shrimp, resulting in a rubbery texture.
Can I use a different type of protein instead of shrimp?
Yes, you can substitute shrimp with chicken, beef, or tofu if you prefer. Adjust the grilling time accordingly depending on the protein you choose.
Can I make the teriyaki sauce from scratch?
Absolutely! Homemade teriyaki sauce often tastes better than store-bought ones. You can make it by combining soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, ginger, and optionally, some rice vinegar and sesame oil. Simmer the mixture until it thickens slightly.
