Instructions
- Turn the oven on to 400ËšF. Mix 2 cups flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a big bowl. Using a pastry blender, chop in 1/2 cup diced butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs the size of peas. Add chopped strawberries and stir gently. Make a well in the middle and reserve the bowl.
- Beat one egg with a fork in a second small mixing dish, and then add in half a cup of heavy cream. Using a large spoon, carefully stir just until moistened after adding the egg mixture to the flour mixture. Avoid over-mixing.
- Transfer dough onto a parchment paper sheet that has been well floured. Shape the dough into a circle that is 3/4 inch thick by pulling it together. Cut into 12 equal wedges, separating them slightly (at least 1/2 inch apart) by pulling.
- Swirl wedges in 1 tablespoon milk and then dust with powdered sugar. Place the parchment paper containing the scones onto a baking sheet and bake for 15 to 16 minutes at 400ËšF, or until they are golden and puffy. Mix 1 tablespoon milk and 2/3 cup powdered sugar together. Glaze can be readily made thicker by adding more powdered sugar and made thinner by adding more milk. Serve the scones warm or at room temperature after pouring glaze over them.
