Strawberry Bourbon Crisp Recipe:- A generous amount of maple butter cookie-crisp is sprinkled on top of this Strawberry Bourbon Crisp, which is stuffed to the brim with delicious strawberries, strawberry jam, and strawberries. Strawberry season is in full swing, and this simple fruit crisp is the ideal way to take use of the plentiful strawberries. The fruit is delicious and full of juice.

While the topping is flavored with hints of brown butter and sweetened with warming maple (in addition to a very modest amount of brown sugar), the dessert is being prepared. The crispiness is just right, and it goes wonderfully with vanilla ice cream on top.

My experience of traveling has provided me with a number of benefits, one of which is the opportunity to develop dishes in mass. In most cases, when I am at home, I will not have more than two to five recipes prepared and ready to offer at the drop of a hat. My content has never been so meticulously planned out, and most of the time, I take pleasure in the freedom that comes with that.

On the other hand, in order to have new things to share with others while I am away from home, I need to prepare a significant number of recipes the night before. When trying to fit everything in, it is always a little bit of a battle. Having time to truly get enthusiastic about the future dishes that I will be sharing is something that I really like doing.

In addition, I have been anticipating the opportunity to share this Strawberry Bourbon Crisp for a considerable amount of time now. In the same way that I was thrilled to share the strawberry pop-tarts that I made the previous week.

Not only is this crisp a delightfully adorable little pie, but it is also really tasty. In honor of Memorial Day, which is this coming weekend, this dessert would be ideal.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, halved (about 3 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup thick strawberry jam
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2-3 tablespoons bourbon (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

TOPPING

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) cold salted butter, cubed
  • 4 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.

    2. In a large bowl, toss together strawberries, strawberry jam, maple, cornstarch, cinnamon, bourbon, and vanilla. Spread the fruit out into a 10-12 inch baking dish or cast iron skillet.

    3. To make the topping, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl. Add 8 tablespoons butter and cut the butter into the dry ingredients using a fork or pastry cutter. Sprinkle over the fruit. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

    4. Remove the crisp from the oven, remove the foil, and arrange 4 tablespoons butter evenly on top. Drizzle the maple syrup over the butter. Bake another 20-30 minutes. If a crisper topping is desired, broil for 1 minute.

    5. Let cool 20-30 minutes, then serve with ice cream.

Notes

Crisp Not Thickening: If your crisp is soupy, continue baking another 20 minutes, until the sauce thickens. Alternately, you can use additional cornstarch, but with 2 tablespoons already called for mine always comes out pretty thick.
