Parmesan Pesto Twist Easiest Recipe EverÂ
With puff pastry, store-bought pesto, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese, I’m thrilled to provide these amazing pesto twists to all of my dear readers today! However, you can certainly create your own pesto; I’ve made mine and used it in a variety of meals, and you can find a tonne of pesto ideas on Jo Cooks. But store-bought pesto works just as well if you want to keep this recipe easy and quick.
Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1 cup pesto
- 1 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions
Set the oven to 400°F.
On a surface dusted with flour, roll out the puff pastry sheet to a size of approximately 15 by 12 inches.
Evenly cover the puff pastry with ½ cup of the pesto, making sure to spread it all over.
Over the pesto, strew half of the parmesan cheese.
Slice into strips that are one inch wide. Each strip is folded in half, then it is picked up and repeatedly twisted. With an inch or so between them, arrange the twists on an oiled baking sheet.
Continue with the remaining puff pastry sheet, Parmesan cheese, and pesto.
Use beaten egg to coat each twist.
Bake till golden brown, 15 minutes or so.
To serve, let cool for approximately five minutes on a wire rack.
Notes
I used pesto from a jar. You’re free to use your own homemade pesto.
Other sauces such as marinara or red pesto will work for this recipe as well.

Make Ahead?
Indeed, you can, and preparing these is quite simple! Simply brush the twists with the egg wash and place them on your baking sheet in the freezer while they’re still raw. They can be stored for up to a month if you move them to an airtight container or freezer bag after they’ve frozen through.
When you’re ready to dine, simply place these frozen beauties on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit!
