One of the most famous bands to come out of the 1970s is still Lynyrd Skynyrd. Some of the band’s founders died in a plane crash in 1977, but the members who are still alive still play the band’s biggest hits on the road. The two most popular songs by them are included: “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird.” This year, the band got to play at Music City’s New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash party.
There were other people there, too. They asked Lainey Wilson and Elle King to sing “Sweet Home Alabama” with them. The band made a record of “Sweet Home Alabama” in 1974. This song has been around for 18 years, since Lainey Wilson was born in 1992. Elle King is a little older than the movie, but she was born in 1989, 15 years after it came out.
But both women were at their best when they sang Skynyrd with Skynyrd on New Year’s Eve. King is nominated for four Grammys in two different categories: rock and country. Wilson, on the other hand, won nine wins at the ACM and CMA in 2023.

Lainey Wilson also performed her own songs
Lainey Wilson, Elle King, and Lynyrd Skynyrd all felt very moved by this event. But even though Lainey and Elle only sang a few lines of “Sweet Home Alabama,” they both had big moments at the event. Elle was in charge, and Lainey sang some of her own songs.
In 2011, Elle King sang the famous Stevie Nicks song “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” Lainey Wilson was one of the best things in country music right now. She sang some big hits that showed why. She sang “Heart Like a Truck” and “Grease” to welcome in the New Year. She sang “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” again after a short break.
The ACM and CMA Female Artist of the Year awards went to Lainey Wilson in 2023. She beat out Ashley McBryde, Miranda Lambert, Carly Pearce, and Kelsea Ballerini.
Another honor is that she is up for two Grammys, which will be given out on February 4. She and Jelly Roll are up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the song “Save Me.” They also put her album Bell Bottom Country in the running for Best Country Album.
