Irish Apple Cake Recipe – Easiest Recipe Ever:- Whether it’s a piece of chocolate pie that’s been left over from the previous night or the very last sugar cookie in the jar, there are occasions when eating dessert for breakfast just goes with the flow. This is the case with this flavorful Irish apple cake that is smooth and fragrant with cinnamon. In a manner that is reminiscent of your preferred crumb muffin, it is topped with golden buttery crumble and tart apples that have been finely sliced.

Consider this apple treat, which has a subtle sweetness, to be similar to a coffee cake; it is the ideal accompaniment to a cup of hot tea or a towering glass of iced coffee. What is the most enjoyable aspect? The customary accompaniment is crème anglaise, which is a thin, pourable custard that has the flavor of melted ice cream. It is traditionally served with thick cream. This is the kind of substance that you’ll want to drizzle on everything!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CAKE:
  • 3 C. Flour
  • 2 t. Baking Powder
  • ⅛ t. Salt
  • ¼ t. Cloves, ground
  • ¼ t. Nutmeg, ground
  • 6 oz. Butter, (cold is fine)
  • ¾ C. Sugar
  • 4 large Granny Smith apples(I used golden delicious to great effect)
  • 2 Eggs
  • ¾ C. Milk
  • 2 T. Sugar(for sprinkling on top of cake)
  • FOR THE CUSTARD:
  • 6 large Egg Yolks
  • 6 T. Sugar
  • 1½ C. Whole Milk
  • 1½ t. Vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare a round springform pan measuring 8 inches or 9 inches by greasing and flouring it. An 8-inch pan will allow you to make a cake that is taller. The oven should be preheated at 375 degrees. Fill a large mixing bowl with flour, baking powder, salt, cloves, and nutmeg, and then sift the ingredients down.

To ensure that there is sufficient space for the apples to be folded in, the dish should be quite large.
Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. This should take around several minutes.

Mix the sugar into the flour mixture after adding ¾ cup of sugar to it. Using a peeler, cut the apples into pieces that are all the same size. In order to achieve the desired “chunky apple look” in this cake, it is recommended that the slices be approximately ¼ inch wide and then cut into three parts.

Apples should be tossed into the flour mixture, and the mixture should be thoroughly combined.
To prepare the mixture, whisk the eggs and milk together in a separate basin. After adding it to the apples and flour, use a big spatula to stir it in until it is almost completely incorporated.

The batter will have a consistency similar to dough. The dough should be transferred into the cake pan that has been prepared, and the top surface should be flattened using the back of your spatula. To finish off the cake, sprinkle the sugar all over the top.

45 to 50 minutes should be baked. Verify that the middle is cooked through. It is important that the cake’s top be a golden brown color. Spread custard sauce on the pieces and serve.

Note that this sauce is not a thick pudding-like sauce; it is more of a sauce that is similar to the standard sauce. When it is finished, it should have a consistency that is pourable and somewhat thickened.

Whisk the egg yolks and sugar together in a bowl for two to three minutes, or until the mixture becomes pale yellow. The milk should be placed in a medium saucepan and brought to a boil using a whisk. The hot milk should then be slowly whisked into the egg and sugar combination.

Return the mixture to the saucepan and whisk it over medium heat for approximately four minutes, or until the custard has reached the desired consistency. The consistency of the custard should be such that it can cover the back of a spoon. To the vanilla, mix it in. Place the contents in a bowl or a serving saucer.
On top of apple cake, serve either warm or cold.

NOTES

It is recommended that you bake the cake in a bundt form, as this will allow you to fill the hollow middle with the warm custard.

Once my custard is finished cooking, I like to add one tablespoon of Irish whiskey to it. This not only gives it a little kick, but it also gives it a delicious flavor.
