Indian Chickpea Salad Recipe -Step by Step Guide :- This crazy Indian chickpea salad is called chana chaat. Green peppers, onions, cilantro, cucumber, and this crazy sour spice mix. Not like any other chickpea salad you’ve had.

It tastes great hot or cold. That’s fun. On thing to keep in mind is that if you serve it cold, you will need to add a little more salt.

Add a squeeze of lemon juice if you want. Could be. Do it both ways. Chaat with chana needs spiced oil to work. Each bean gets a coating. That means every bite has a lot of flavor.

Indian Chickpea Salad Recipe -Step by Step Guide

Ingredients :

  • 2 cans chickpeas 15 ounce cans
  • 1 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 small cucumber thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp cilantro
  • 3 green chilies thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
  • 2 tbsp tamarind sauce e.g. Maggi tamarin
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

Instructions :

Warm up a pan big enough to fit the chickpeas over medium-low heat.
Put the oil in. When it starts to sparkle, add half of the green peppers. Fry for almost a minute.
Put in the salt, cumin, chaat masala, and Kashmiri chili powder. Take another 30 seconds to cook.
The tamarind sauce and beans should be added. Mix everything together, and cook until the beans are just warm. It’s not hot. Not cold.
Move the beans to a bowl that’s big enough to hold all the other ingredients.
So that it’s ready to serve, let the chickpea blend cool to room temperature. Add the cucumber, red onion, cilantro, and the rest of the green chiles. Sprinkle to mix. Feel it. Add more salt if you want. Do it.

Notes :

This is useful in many ways. If you can find Indian sev add that in for crunch. Put lettuce leaves around it to make little wraps. Or just with drinks. Let it cool down, then use it as a chickpea salad. It goes well with fried chicken hot or cold.

When you serve it cold, try adding a squeeze of lemon juice to one or two bites. Pick the way you like it best. After that, go on.

Any Indian grocery shop will sell chaat masala. You can also use this method to make it yourself.
