I are the first to admit that I usually roll my eyes at trends, and avocado toast is definitely one of them. But this recipe for avocado toast is completely ridiculous. I’ll let my opinion stand for now and beg you to make it. There is hummus and creamy avocado, as well as zingy onion, juicy tomatoes, tangy feta, and crunchy nuts, to make the perfect bite.

Hummus: Pick your best hummus, whether you buy it or make it yourself. For me, hummus should be simple and plain. But feel free to add different tastes if you want to. What I love about the toast is how the hummus makes it feel like butter.
Ripe Avocados:Â Buy an avocado at the shop that’s exactly right. A excellent avocado is soft yet not spongy. Put hard avocados in a brown paper bag on the counter to soften.
Cherry Tomatoes:Â Little cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes, or plum tomatoes add a great burst of juicy flavor.
Red Onion: Fresh red onion that has been chopped very small adds a lot of taste and a nice texture.
Feta Cheese:Â Tangy feta cheese adds a creamy, salty element that raises the whole thing to a higher level.
Pistachios: If you buy pistachios without the shell, you can chop them up and put them on top of the avocado toast for a great crunch and nutty taste. Do not skip the pistachios—they will make the dish so much better!
Salt and Black Pepper: You can add as much crunchy sea salt and pepper as you like. I put salt in the mashed avocado and pepper on top of the avocado toast.
The best avocado toast recipe is made with all of these things. Rich and creamy tastes, fresh and bright pops and bursts of juiciness, and crunch to go with the perfectly toasted bread.
Recipe Adaptations:
- Add some lemon juice or hot sauce to the avocado to make it taste a little sour.
- Add lime juice, everything bagel spice, or red pepper flakes.
- You can make something else instead of the humus if you don’t like it.
- Instead of feta cheese, use goat cheese.
- You can cut up fresh herbs like mint and mix them in with the mashed avocado if you have them on hand.
- For a really good avocado egg toast, top it with a little olive oil and a fried egg, an egg sunny side up, or a hard-boiled egg.
- Ricotta is a soft cheese that can be used instead of or along with hummus.
- Add some more fresh vegetables, like chopped carrots or spinach that has been sautéed.

How to Make Avocado Toast:
In a small bowl, mash the avocado until it’s smooth. Add a pinch of salt and mix it all together. Wait to use the mashed avocado until you are ready to do so.
