How to Make Chocolate Oreo Pancakes Recipe

An ancient Greek poet first mentioned pancakes circa 600 BC. They were prepared with wheat flour, oil, honey, and curdled milk. However, researchers think that this delectable tendency began almost 30,000 years ago, with the Stone Age inhabitants. In reality, they discovered pancake remnants inside Otzi the Iceman’s stomach.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2cupsall-purpose flour
  • 1/4cupdark cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1/2cupgranulated sugar
  • 2teaspoonbaking powder
  • 1 1/4cupwhole milk
  • 1large egg room temperature
  • 2tablespoonsunsalted butter melted – plus more for the pan
  • 10 Oreos
  • Pinch Kosher salt
  • 1 1/2cupsheavy whipping cream cold
  • Crushed Oreos for serving
  • Chocolate Sauce for serving

Instructions

First, separate the Oreos; place the cookie portion in a food processor and the center cream in a medium-sized bowl.

To chop the cookies, pulse them; do not process them into crumbs.

In the dish containing the cream filling, add the chilled whipping cream and beat until stiff peaks form. When you’re ready to use the mixture, transfer it to a piping bag and store it in the refrigerator.

Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and cocoa powder in a big bowl with a whisk.

Whisk together the melted butter, egg, and milk in a another medium-sized basin.

Then, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk, being careful not to overmix, just until incorporated.

Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Pour into the pan approximately 1/4 cup of pancake batter. Cook for one to two minutes on each side, or until small bubbles start to form. Then, turn the food over and continue cooking.

To serve, spread a thick layer of whipped cream over the chocolate pancakes, then add additional whipped cream, crumbled Oreos, and chocolate drizzle on top.

FAQs AND QUESTIONs

What is the difference between pancake and waffle batter?

Pancake batter contains higher levels of leavening, like baking powder. This aids in their ascent. Waffles require extra egg and butter to be chewy in the center and brown on the exterior. All you need to do is double the eggs and oil or butter to make waffle mix from pancake mix.
