Tips & Tricks
MAKE IT DAIRY-FREE: I make these without using any dairy milk on a regular basis! As an alternative to buttermilk, you can substitute one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with half a cup of almond milk. As an alternative to the brown butter, you can use the dairy-free butter of your choice: simply melt it.
Make use of a little muffin pan: I find that they go best when they are formed in a mini muffin pan and then completely rolled in the butter and cinnamon sugar mixture. That being said, you may also prepare these in a muffin tin that is of a conventional size. It is sufficient to extend the baking time by five to ten minutes.
If you want to enjoy these, you should eat them as soon as they come out of the oven fresh.
Notes
You may drown the entire puff in butter and roll it in cinnamon sugar until the entire surface is coated. This would be an alternative to simply dipping the tops of the puffs. If this is the case, you will require additional butter that has been melted and a blend of cinnamon and sugar.
If you decide to convert these into tiny muffins, be aware that the baking time for them is likely to be between 12 and 14 minutes.
