Rice Krispies topped with M&Ms and placed on parchment paper In all seriousness, I adored rice krispies treats when I was a kid. I couldn’t get enough of them. These M&M Rice Krispies Treats were created because I wanted to take a recipe for a delightful treat that brings back fond memories and transform it into an unforgettable dessert.

Ingredients

Rice Krispies Treats:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows

Peanut Butter Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup cream peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 & 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 & 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 18 ounce bag M&M’s (family size)

Instructions

Set aside a baking dish measuring 9 inches by 13 inches and line it with parchment paper or wax paper.
Butter should be melted in a big pot over a heat setting of medium-low. Melt the marshmallows while swirling them regularly after adding them to the mixture.

Remove the pot from the heat as soon as the marshmallows have melted, and start adding the rice cereal to the mixture. Repeat the process until all of the cereal is evenly covered. Spread the mixture into the baking dish that has been prepared. A spatula or your fingers can be sprayed with non-stick spray to make spreading the mixture easier.

Put the dish in the refrigerator for one hour while it is covered with plastic wrap. To make the frosting, combine the peanut butter and butter in a bowl of medium size and use an electric hand mixer to combine the two ingredients until they are completely smooth.

Powdered sugar should be added gradually until it is completely incorporated; the mixture should be thick.
After adding the heavy cream and vanilla, mix it in until it is completely incorporated, and then beat it for two minutes on medium-high speed.

Apply the icing to the Krispy treats and spread it evenly. When removing it from the pan, you can use the parchment to assist you.You can press the M&M candies into the mould in any pattern you like. In order to serve, cut into bars.
