Easy Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

The finest cream cheese frosting is here, and you can use it on all your fall treats! With its spicy twist, cinnamon cream cheese frosting is a classic icing that goes well with all the pumpkin, gingerbread, and other fall goodies.

INGREDIENTS

AD
  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 c. powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Using a stand or hand mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Remove any lumps from the mixture.

Stir in the salt and cinnamon and whisk until well blended.

Add half of the powdered sugar and stir until the sugar is mostly, but not entirely, incorporated. Once the frosting is light and fluffy, add the remaining sugar and mix until thoroughly blended.

From here, you have two options: use a knife to frost the cake or cupcakes, or fill a piping bag and pipe the cupcakes.

If all of the frosting is not used, store it in the refrigerator by covering the bowl of frosting or the piping bag tip with saran wrap. Using this within a day or two is ideal.

TIPS

A tall glass and wrapping the edges over the top of the glass is the simplest method I’ve found for filling a piping bag. After filling with frosting, take the piping bag out of the glass by grabbing the sides of the bags.

For these cupcakes, a 1M frosting tip was utilized.

FAQs AND QUESTIONs

Can I substitute a different spice for the cinnamon?

For a different twist, replace the cinnamon with the same quantity of ground nutmeg, cloves, or pumpkin pie spice.

Can I make it ahead?

It is possible to make it up to one or two days ahead of time. After preparing it, store the bowl in the refrigerator by covering it with plastic wrap. Before frosting your dessert, let it reach room temperature.

Can I make it ahead?

You can use a plastic bag that can be sealed if you don’t have a bag! To pipe out the frosting, fill the bag with it, then cut off one corner. If you do not have decorating tips or a pastry bag, there is a simple solution.
