INGREDIENTS :

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes peeled
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS :

Warm up the air fryer to 380°F. First, peel the sweet potatoes.

Then, cut each one into sticks that are about ¼ inch thick.

Add the sweet potatoes to a large bowl. Add the salt, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper.

Toss the potatoes to coat them. If your basket isn’t very big, cook them in two or three batches so they don’t crowd the pan. Keep doing this until they’re crispy.

I suggest 12 minutes, with a break in the middle. This could be different for each air fryer.

Put it out right away with your favorite sauce for dipping.

NOTES :

Storage: Put any extras in a container that won’t let air in. They can be kept in the fridge for three to four days. To warm it up, just put it in a toaster oven or an air fryer set to 360°F for one to two minutes. It’s also possible to heat it up in the microwave, but the potatoes will get soft.

Substitutes: Follow the method exactly as written for the best results. You can change the oil and herbs, though.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What kind of oil is best for air fryer sweet potato fries?

Any oil will work. A lot of people say to use an oil with a high smoke point, like canola or olive oil. But I really enjoy the taste of olive oil and it worked really well for me. You could also use food spray.

How long should I cook sweet potato fries in air fryer?

This will depend on the air fryer you have and the temperature. When using the Instant Pot Vortex 4-in-1 Air Fryer, I like to start with 10 minutes at 380°F and add one minute of cooking time at a time as needed.

How do I cook frozen sweet potato chips in the air fryer?

This method still works if you use frozen sweet potatoes. Just cook them at the same temperature. Keep in mind, though, that the frozen sweet potatoes will need an extra 5 minutes in the air fryer.
