TIPS
What is Caprese salad?
The humble caprese salad, also known as insalata caprese, is an Italian salad! Fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and salt and pepper are the main ingredients. The simplicity and the fact that this salad is essentially composed of the colours of the Italian flag, in my opinion, are what make it so beautiful! I decided to make mine with a homemade balsamic reduction because I saw that some versions would call for balsamic vinegar!
Make Them In Advance!
These small snacks are very easy to make ahead of time; just assemble and refrigerate overnight! That way, all you’ll need to do is prepare your balsamic reduction when it’s time to serve your appetiser!
Serving
Really, how cute and ideal are these as a party appetiser? It’s amazing, you’ll wow everyone! They can even be included to a traditional Italian meal as an appetiser or side dish.
Leftovers
There shouldn’t be any leftovers with these little caprese salad nibbles! I still struggle every time I make pasta, so don’t worry if you ended up going a bit crazy and making more than you needed! Keep any leftovers chilled for three to five days!
Storing your balsamic reduction
Put your balsamic glaze in the refrigerator by transferring it to a jar or bottle with a closure. It will last you three to four weeks, so throughout the following month, you can prepare a tonne of these bites.
