Delicious Cajun Honey Butter Salmon Recipe
This simple main dish can be made in just one skillet in about 15 minutes. To make a meal, serve this with my cauliflower rice pilaf, Southern Fried Cabbage, or smoked gouda grits.
Ingredients
- 1 lb salmon 3-4 filets
- 1 tbsp cajun seasoning I used this homemade Cajun spice mix, see note for how to adjust based on the blend you use.Â
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ cup Butter melted
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ tsp cajun seasoning I used this homemade Cajun spice mix, see note for how to adjust based on the blend you use.
- 5 cloves Garlic minced
Instructions
Spread 1 tablespoon of the Cajun seasoning mix on both sides of the salmon and rub it in. Put away. In a nonstick skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
Begin making the Cajun honey butter while the pan is getting hot. Put away. Place the salmon in the pan with the skin facing up. Cook for three minutes.
The salmon should have a sear that is browned on top. Turn the salmon over and cook for another three minutes, or until it turns opaque.
Put the salmon on the grill and pour half of the sauce over it in the last minute of cooking. Warm up the sauce and put it on the salmon. Cover the cooked fish with the rest of the sauce. Sprinkle parsley and lemon slices on top.

Notes
If you buy Cajun seasoning, you will need to change the amount of the spices. This recipe calls for homemade Cajun seasoning. Most of the time, Cajun seasoning mixes from the store are more salty than spice blends you make yourself.
Let’s say you buy Cajun seasoning. Use about 1/2 teaspoon per pound of meat. You can always add more at the end if you want to.
For seared Cajun salmon, cook on medium heat and turn down the heat when you add the sauce. Lower the heat in the pan before you add the sauce. This way, it won’t burn when it gets hot and starts to caramelize.
Look for bones. Fish filets usually don’t have any bones left, but you should always run your hand over the salmon to make sure there aren’t any.
