Instructions

Preheat Oven:

Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Using parchment paper, grease and line baking pan measuring inches by inches.

Prepare the Filling:

In pot of medium size, combine the dates that have been chopped, water, and quarter cup of brown sugar.The combination should be cooked over medium heat with frequent stirring until the dates become tender and the sauce becomes thick, which should take around ten minutes.Take the pan off the heat and add the vanilla essence while stirring. Allow the mixture to settle for moment.

Prepare the Crust and Topping:

The rolled oats, flour, three-quarters of cup of brown sugar, baking soda, and salt should be mixed together in large bowl. After adding the melted butter, continue to mix the ingredients until they are crumbly and thoroughly incorporated.

Assemble the Date Squares:

Applying pressure, press half of the oat mixture onto the baking pan that has been prepared to create a uniform crust. An uniform layer of the date filling should be spread over the crust. To ensure that the leftover oat mixture adheres to the date filling, sprinkle it on top of it and lightly push it down.

Bake:

Bake for twenty-five to thirty minutes in an oven that has been prepared, or until the top is golden brown.

Cool and Serve:

Before cutting the date squares into squares, make sure they stay in the pan until they have totally cooled down. Because of this, they will be easier to cut and will also aid them to set.
