Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Either grease and flour two round cake pans measuring 9 inches in diameter, or line them with parchment paper.

The flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and nutmeg should be mixed together in a medium bowl using a whisk until they are thoroughly combined all together. Put aside for later.

In a large mixing bowl, use a handheld mixer or a stand mixer that is equipped with a paddle attachment to cream together the butter that has been softened and the granulated sugar until the mixture can be described as light and fluffy.

Make sure to give the mixture a thorough beating after each addition of the eggs. Extract of vanilla should be stirred in.

Beginning and ending with the dry ingredients, gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. You should start with the dry ingredients. While taking care not to overmix, mix until the ingredients are just combined.

Distribute the batter in an even manner among the cake pans that have been prepared, and use a spatula to smooth out the tops.

When a toothpick is inserted into the centre of the cakes, it should come out clean. Bake the cakes in an oven that has been preheated for twenty-five to thirty minutes.

Ten minutes should be spent allowing the cakes to cool in the pans, after which they should be carefully transferred to a wire rack to finish cooling.

It is recommended that you prepare the chai buttercream frosting while the cakes are cooling. Beat the butter that has been softened until it becomes creamy in a large mixing bowl. Slowly add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, making sure to thoroughly combine the ingredients after each addition.

The milk or heavy cream, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt should be added to the mixture. When the mixture is smooth and creamy, beat it on medium-high speed.

When the cakes have reached the desired level of coolness, arrange one layer of the cakes on a cake stand or serving plate. A layer of chai buttercream frosting should be spread on top, and then the second layer should be placed on top of that. Make sure to use the remaining frosting to decorate the top of the cake as well as the sides.

A dusting of powdered sugar or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon can be used as a garnish for the cake to add an additional touch of presentation.

To create the ultimate cosy indulgence, slice your spiced chai cake and serve it alongside a cup of chai tea that is at a steaming temperature.
