FAQs AND QUESTIONs

How To Make Blueberry Dump Cake Recipe

  • Select Your Fruit: This is a Mixed Berry Dump Cake because I used blueberries and a cup of raspberries that I wanted to use up in the refrigerator to make this variation.

  • Mix the fruit with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.

  • Arrange a layer of fruit at the base of a 9 by 13 baking dish.
  • Straight from the box, sprinkle dry cake mix over berries!

  • Spread butter over the top of the cake mix. To make the topping, the butter will melt and blend with the cake mix. I like to grate my butter in my food processor to give it a better and more even covering since you want to make sure that the cake mix is completely covered in butter.

  • Grated butter should cover the whole surface of the cake mix.

  • Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or until the top is golden brown.

What Is Dump Cake?

  • The name “dump cake” comes from the method of adding fruit, cake mix, and butter all at once. It makes sense how it acquired its name with all much dumping.

  • The majority of recipes simply call for pouring canned blueberry pie filling into the pan. Pie filling from a can is not my favorite. Rather, I use fresh blueberries mixed with a little sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. The fresh fruit is really superior, but it takes a minute or two longer to combine.

  • This cake has fruit underneath a layer that resembles cake, much like a blueberry cobbler.
