Best Fried Green Beans Recipe

Fried green beans are an option at my neighbourhood burger joint in place of regular french fries. When I initially tasted these green beans, I had my doubts, but I was blown away by how tasty they were! This homemade version is the perfect party snack and comes together in a matter of minutes.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound green beans ends trimmed
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour divided use
  • 1 cup beer
  •  3/4 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • oil for frying
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

In a deep saucepan, heat 3 inches of oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Shake off any extra flour after applying 1/2 cup of flour to the green beans.

Combine the remaining cup of flour, beer, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder in a medium-sized bowl.

Dredge every green bean in batter, allowing any leftovers to fall back into the bowl.

Fry 8–10 green beans at a time for 3–4 minutes, or until golden brown.

Proceed with the remaining green beans in the same manner.

Garnish with parsley and serve right away.

NOTES

Green beans should be added to and removed from the oil using a spider skimmer.

If there are any lumps in the batter mixture, you can whisk them out.

Make sure the oil maintains its 375 degree Fahrenheit by using a thermometer.

To make it easier to transfer the battered green beans into the oil when frying them, keep the batter close to the oil.

FAQs

What beer should I use for beer batter?

The beer ought to have a paler hue. If you prefer a mildly flavoured batter so that the green beans have the most flavour, use lager. If you prefer a batter with a more nuanced flavour, use a lighter coloured ale. I used a wheat ale in the Belgian style. When fried, the tasty batter turned golden thanks to the Belgian-style wheat beers.

How do you prepare fresh green beans?

All you have to do to prepare your green beans for the fryer is give them a thorough cleaning and then cut off the stem end. The quickest method for removing the stem end from green beans is to arrange them in a row and then chop the stems off all at once. The prep period goes by much more quickly.

Do you blanch green beans before frying them?

It is not necessary to blanch green beans prior to frying them because the heat from the oil will cause them to become soft.
