Baked Ham And Cheese Sliders Recipe: Mmmmm, sliders! Having a tasty slider recipe on hand is always beneficial. They’re simple, quick, and a crowd-pleaser at any event (game day, anyone?). I’m obviously obsessed with these kinds of dishes! My Baked Buffalo Chicken Sliders are one of my most well-liked recipes right now, and for good reason—they’re delicious!—yet I only have one other slider recipe up on my website.
Along those similar lines is this recipe for hot ham and cheese sliders. Who doesn’t enjoy a good ham and cheese sandwich, after all? The only thing better than regular sliders is Hawaiian roll sliders, so that’s why I opted for Hawaiian rolls instead of the ham and Swiss from your neighborhood deli.
Baked Ham And Cheese Sliders Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- Cooking spray
- 18Â Hawaiian rolls
- ¼ cup prepared yellow mustard
- 2 Tablespoons honey
- 9–12 slices deli ham (about ¾ pound)
- 8–10 slices swiss cheese (about ½ pound)
- 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
INSTRUCTIONS
- Spray cooking spray on a 9″ x 13″ baking pan and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put aside.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls carefully across the middle, being careful to preserve the tops and bottoms intact. Place the bottoms into the baking pan that has been buttered and set aside the tops.
- After 5 minutes of uncovered baking, take out of the oven.
- Mix the prepared yellow mustard and honey thoroughly while the bun bottoms are baking.
- Evenly cover the bottoms of the buns with a layer of honey mustard.
- Add an equal layer of ham on top.
- Add a uniform layer of Swiss cheese on top.
- Top the sliders with the bun tops.
- Beat the butter, poppy seeds, and onion powder together thoroughly in a small bowl. Distribute this mixture equally over the bun tops.
- Put the pan back in the oven and continue baking for ten to fifteen minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the bun tops are brown. Serve right away.

FAQs AND Questions
Can you prepare the ham and cheese sliders in advance?
- These are easily assembled ahead of time and baked right before serving. The honey mustard sauce can also be prepared up to one week in advance.
Is Dijon mustard compatible?
- Yes, it will add a hint of spice, but you can definitely omit it.
What if my taste in mustard is off?
- They’re a touch dry without any sauce, so you may omit it, but you might want to replace it with another preferred sauce (I tested these without sauce also because my husband dislikes mustard!).
Which cheese complements ham the best?
- Though it’s entirely subjective, I believe Swiss works best. Feel free to use another sort of cheese if you want!
Tips for making ham and Swiss sliders
- I strongly recommend using Hawaiian rolls for any type of slider recipe. I’ve tried many other rolls with different recipes, and Hawaiian rolls are the easiest to cut and always add the best flavor.
- When cutting the rolls in half, if at all possible, try to keep the tops and bottoms together. I carefully cut through the middle with a very sharp bread knife, watching both sides to avoid too thinned-out tops or bottoms.
- To prevent the bottom buns from becoming mushy from the honey mustard sauce, bake them for a little while.
- Because each brand varies slightly in size, I included an estimate of the number of ham and cheese slices you’ll need.
- I promise you won’t regret adding the butter and poppy seed topping to the buns! That blend of butter provides incredible flavor.
- Double those ingredients if you want additional honey mustard sauce for dipping.
