Baked Chicken Parmesan Recipe: Introducing your new favorite recipe, as well as mine! One of my favorite dishes is chicken parmesan, so if it’s served at an Italian restaurant, I’ll probably order it.
Though I adore it, I frequently want a more straightforward version of this recipe to prepare at home, and this is perfect. Oven baked rather than fried, this version of chicken parmesan is a little lighter than the classic, but it’s still quite tasty. This recipe is still really fulfilling and flavorful, even with less oil.

- 2 eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1–2 cups marinara sauce, plus more if desired
- 6–8 oz mozzarella cheese ball, sliced
- avocado oil or avocado oil spray
- fresh parsley and basil, for serving
Method
- Set the oven’s temperature to 425.
- Arrange parchment paper on a sheet pan and generously spray or sprinkle with avocado oil.
- In a shallow dish, crack the eggs and whisk until thoroughly mixed.
- To another shallow dish, add the panic breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning with parmesan cheese, onion and garlic powders, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until fully incorporated.
- Make sure to thoroughly coat both sides of the chicken cutlets by dipping them first into the egg mixture and then into the breadcrumb mixture. You can slightly massage the breadcrumbs into the chicken with your fingers.
- When the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 degrees, bake it for 15 minutes at 425 degrees on the prepared baking sheet.
- After taking the chicken out of the oven, cover each piece with a quarter cup of marinara sauce and some mozzarella cheese slices. Go back to the oven and bake for a further five to seven minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and melted.
- To help the cheese brown, you can place the oven on broil for one or two minutes. Serve with more marinara sauce and spaghetti, then garnish with freshly chopped basil and parsley.
