Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). For easier removal, prepare a baking pan measuring 9 by 13 inches by greasing and flouring it or lining it with parchment paper.
  • The all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg should be mixed together in a bowl of medium size using a whisk until they are thoroughly combined. Put aside for later.

  • When the butter has been softened, cream it together with the granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer until it is light and fluffy, which should take about two to three minutes.
  • The eggs should be beaten in one at a time until they are completely incorporated. To complete the mixture, add the vanilla extract and mix thoroughly.

  • Add the apple butter and stir until it is completely incorporated and smooth. When necessary, scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure that the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • The dry ingredients should be added to the wet ingredients in a gradual manner, with the buttermilk in between each addition.

  • Mix each addition of dry ingredients until they are just combined, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. When mixing the batter, take care not to overmix it.
  • Proceed to pour the batter into the baking pan that has been prepared, and then use a spatula to spread it out evenly.

  • After the oven has been preheated, place the baking pan inside and bake the cake for thirty to thirty-five minutes, or until a toothpick that is inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
  • Ten minutes should be allowed for the cake to cool in the pan after it has been removed from the oven. After that, lay the cake out on a wire rack so that it can cool down completely.

  • The confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla extract should be mixed together in a small mixing bowl using a whisk until the mixture is smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or sugar as needed.
  • Once the cake has cooled completely, drizzle the glaze over the top of the cake. Before cutting the cake into slices and serving it, wait a few minutes for the glaze to harden.

  • Prepare a delightful dessert or snack by slicing the apple butter cake into squares and serving it to your guests. As a warm and comforting treat, enjoy it with a cup of coffee or tea.
