Instructions:

Set the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). For easy removal, line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper or grease and flour it.
Get the Crumb Topping ready: Mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, granulated sugar, and salt in a mixing dish. Blend until thoroughly blended. Mixing until crumbly, pour the melted butter into the dry ingredients.

Add the sliced almonds and gently fold until they are uniformly distributed. Put aside. Prepare the cake batter: Mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt thoroughly in a another basin. Put aside. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar in a sizable mixing basin until the mixture is light and fluffy.

One egg at a time, beat in until combined. Stir in the almond extract after adding it. Add the flour combination to the wet ingredients gradually, starting and finishing with the flour mixture and alternating with the sour cream. Take care not to overmix; only mix until barely mixed.

How to Assemble the Cake: Using a spatula, evenly distribute the cake batter into the prepared cake pan. Evenly and completely cover the cake batter with the crumb topping. Take the cake pan out of the oven and bake it for forty to forty-five minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.

After baking, take the cake out of the oven and let it cool for about fifteen minutes within the pan. Present and Savour: Once the cake has cooled down a little, carefully move it to a wire rack to finish cooling. After the cake cools, cut it into wedges and, if preferred, dust it with powdered sugar before serving.

Tips:

Crumb Topping Consistency: Make sure the texture of the crumb topping is crumbly. To do this, combine the melted butter with the dry ingredients and stir until little clumps form. Prevent Overmixing: Only mix until barely incorporated when combining the wet and dry ingredients for the cake batter. A dense texture can be produced in cakes by overmixing.

Ingredients at Room Temperature: Before using, let ingredients like butter, eggs, and sour cream reach room temperature. The batter is smoother when the components are blended more easily at room temperature. Appropriate Cooling: Let the cake cool in the pan for approximately fifteen minutes, then move it to a wire rack to finish cooling. This helps the cake set properly and keeps it from sticking to the pan.
