Air Fryer Spring Rolls RecipeÂ
To be honest, I’m not the best cook (well, maybe I am!), so I want this to be the kind of meal I can make fast and with minimal effort. That’s made possible in this recipe by using bagged cole slaw mix.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger or 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 green onions thinly sliced
- 1 ½ cups of tricolor coleslaw mix
- 8Â spring roll wrappers
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat before adding the sesame seeds. Add the meat and heat, tossing, until browned until the seeds turn golden brown. Add the green onions, garlic, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, onion powder, and pepper. Cook until the liquids are mostly gone. Cook the cabbage for an additional two minutes, or until it wilts.
Position the spring roll wrapper in a diamond pattern. In the centre, arrange two to three spoonfuls of meat in a line that is parallel to your body.
Wet the edge of the wrapper with a small amount of water. Over the filling, fold the left and right corners into the centre.
Squeeze out the air as you roll the wrapper around the filling, folding the bottom corner up. To seal it off, just moisten the exposed corner.
After giving the air fryer basket a quick oil spray, place the spring rolls inside. Give the spring rolls a light oiling.
Cook the spring rolls at 380°F for 8 minutes, turning them halfway through, or until they are crispy and have a golden brown colour all over.
To serve, let cool for five to ten minutes.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS
Arrange your mise en place so that you can fill and wrap the spring rolls as soon as the filling is ready. Arrange the filling, a small plate of water, the spring roll wrappers, and the air fryer basket (optionally lined with parchment paper) in close proximity to your work area or chopping board.
Don’t pack the wrappers too full. The ideal amount of filling is about 3 teaspoons.
You are more than welcome to create them early in the day. When the time comes to cook the spring rolls, prepare the filling, fill and roll the rolls, cover with plastic wrap, and chill for up to 12 hours.
FAQs
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHINESE SPRING ROLLS AND EGG ROLLS?
Although the terms “egg roll” and “spring roll” are often used synonymously these days, there is a distinction between the two!
Thin wheat wrappers are used to make Chinese spring rolls, and when they are deep-fried, they become incredibly crunchy. Conversely, egg rolls are the American take on spring rolls, created in the 1930s in New York City by a Chinese chef.
