Instructions
Warm the oven up to 175°F (350°F). If you want to make it easy to take out, grease and flour a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
Whisk the cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking powder, salt, and baking soda together in a medium-sized bowl until everything is well mixed. Put away.
Put the melted butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl and mix them together until they are smooth and creamy.
Mix the egg and vanilla extract into the butter and sugar until they are completely mixed in.
Mix in the pumpkin puree until it’s well mixed in.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix them together until they are just combined. Be careful not to mix too much.
Add the chopped walnuts slowly and stir them into the batter until they are spread out evenly.
Put the batter in the baking pan that has been prepared and spread it out so that it is a smooth layer.
In a hot oven, bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean.
Let the bars cool all the way in the pan before you frost them.
Cream cheese and butter should be softened. Put them in a medium-sized bowl and mix them together until they are smooth and creamy.
One cup at a time, add the powdered sugar and beat well after each addition. It will be light and fluffy after you add the vanilla extract.
Spread the cream cheese frosting over the top of the pumpkin bars once they are completely cool.
If you want, you can add more chopped walnuts on top as a garnish. Serve the bars by cutting them into squares.

Tips for Success
To get the best texture and taste from these bars, use canned pumpkin puree instead of pumpkin pie filling.
You can change how much cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves you use if you want a stronger spice flavor.
To make the walnuts taste even better, toast them before adding them to the batter. Spread the chopped walnuts out on a baking sheet and bake them in an oven that has already been heated to 350°F (175°C) for 5 to 7 minutes, or until they start to smell good.
You can use gluten-free all-purpose flour instead of regular flour in this recipe to make a gluten-free version.
Notes
If you have extra bars, you can keep them in the fridge for up to three days in an airtight container. For the best texture and taste, let them sit out at room temperature before serving.
If you want to make the frosting your own, you can add a little cinnamon or maple extract for the extra flavor.
For fall parties and potlucks, these bars are great. You can also enjoy them at home with family and friends.
