Parmesan Garlic Chicken Sliders Recipe: With just a few ingredients—Hawaiian rolls, frozen chicken nuggets, marinara, cheese, butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning—these baked chicken parmesan sliders are always a hit with my kids.
I mean, little sandwiches drenched in garlic butter really couldn’t go wrong, can they? Not only are they incredibly affordable, but they’re also a lot of fun to make for your kids’ sleepovers and other get-togethers. Your pickiest eaters will be satisfied to the brim!
Parmesan Garlic Chicken Sliders Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 (12 pack) Hawaiian rolls
- 12 frozen chicken nuggets or tenders (*read notes below)
- 1 cup marinara or pasta sauce
- 6 slices mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup butter (plus more for greasing the dish)
- 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Instructions
As directed on the package, cook the chicken and set it aside.
Butter the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Slice the Hawaiian rolls lengthwise, being careful not to split the rolls; put the bottom halves onto the dish you have ready and bake for approximately 3 minutes, or until the bread is lightly toasted.
Top each bottom piece with a precooked chicken nugget, then cover with marinara, mozzarella, and the top halves of the rolls.
In the microwave, melt the butter and combine it with the Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Evenly brush the mixture over the rolls’ tops. Overtop, scatter the grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake your dish for fifteen minutes with the foil covering it. Remove the lid and continue baking for three to five more minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.
After taking them out of the oven, let them cool for about five minutes on the counter. They should be simple to separate, but if it’s more
convenient, you may also cut them at the separation lines with a sharp knife or spatula.
Serve by itself or with more marinara on the side for dipping.
Notes
The quality of the chicken you select will have a significant impact on the outcome of these sliders. The frozen “McDonald style” nuggets are a hit with my kids and a wonderful cinch to deal with because they appear to fit the bread nicely and add consistency to each slider.
Still, I think the better breaded chicken tenders are better (you’ll probably have to trim them to size). You can use any frozen or homemade breaded chicken; if you have a preferred brand, go ahead and use it.
My family of four is fed by this recipe, which yields twelve little sandwiches, with no leftovers. If you’re making these for a big family or event, I suggest double the recipe.
