Ingredients
- 1 cup water (lukewarm (~110F))
- 2 tablespoon sugar (granulated)
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 3-4 cups all-purpose flour (all-purpose)
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ cup butter (unsalted, softened)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoon butter (unsalted, melted)
Instructions
Create the dough by adding three cups of flour, sugar, salt, egg, water, butter, and yeast to the bowl of your mixer. Mix on low speed with the dough hook until the dough almost comes clear from the bowl’s edge. If necessary, add the remaining flour. When the dough pulls away from the side of the bowl clean, it is done. It is soft but not sticky. It ought to take four or five minutes.
Prepare the pan or skillet: Apply butter to a 9×13-inch pan or a 12-inch skillet.
Cut the dough into 12 equal-sized pieces to form the rolls. Take a portion and flatten it with your fingers or palm to form it into a roll. Pinch the edges together to fold it into a ball, then flip it over and roll it for a little while. After the pan or skillet is ready, put them inside.
Set the oven’s temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven preheats, about 8 to 10 minutes, place the rolls in a warm area, cover with a fresh, moist towel, and allow them to rise.
Bake: Take off the moist cloth and put the skillet inside the oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the tops are golden brown. After taking the skillet or baking dish out of the oven, quickly brush the buns with melted butter.
Notes
Because I live in a very dry climate and normally need more moisture while making dough, I only used roughly 3 1/4 cups of flour. Use three cups of flour to start, and more as needed.
I occasionally weigh the rolls if you would want 12 precisely sized rolls. To ensure that each roll is the same size, I weigh the entire dough, divide it by 12, and then weigh each roll separately. In this manner, you will have twelve flawless, lovely rolls.
These dinners can be stored in the refrigerator for up to nine days or up to five days at room temperature. If desired, you can reheat them in the microwave for a little period of time prior to serving.
