Chocolate Coconut Rum Balls Recipe – Know the Secret Tips :- I can’t get enough of these chocolate coconut rum balls, which were a staple in my childhood and continue to be a favorite of mine now. This particular recipe has always been my favorite, despite the fact that there are other varieties of these sweets circulating about.

Although these “rum” balls are suitable for children, they do not include any rum at all. However, if you want them to have a more alcoholic flavour, you may add a teaspoon of rum extract to them. Just four ingredients (yep, four!) and a little amount of time to prepare are all that are required for these delectable sweets. Have fun!

Ingredients

  • 1 11-oz box vanilla wafers (or chocolate cookie wafers)
  • 2 cups pecans
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup high-quality unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup dark coconut rum
  • 3 tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1 cup flaked coconut, for rolling

Instructions

Take the coconut that has been flaked and place it in a food processor. Process it till it is fine. The coconut should be placed in a shallow dish and set aside for later rolling. Put the wafers and nuts into the food processor; there is no need to clean it out until you are finished. When they reach the size of huge crumbs, process them once again.

The wafer and nut combination should be poured into a big bowl, and then the powdered sugar and chocolate should be added. In order to mix, stir. Place the rum and corn syrup in a bowl and mix to blend. It is possible that you will need to use your hands to ensure that the ingredients are mixed together evenly.

The mixture should be rolled into balls using your hands and a tiny cookie scoop. I typically roll each ball into a tablespoon or so, but you are free to make them any size you wish. Roll each ball in the coconut that has been set aside. Keep them in a container that is airtight and allow them to sit for at least one day so that the flavours can develop, preferably for two to three days if at all feasible.

Tips

Placing the biscuits in the bowl of the food processor is the first step in the process of crushing the biscuits using a food processor. Pulse the biscuits at a medium-high speed for ten to twenty seconds, checking to see how crushed they are in between each pulse. About half of the biscuits should be pieces, and the other half should be crumbs.

You can smash the biscuits with a rolling pin by placing them in a large freezer bag or zip-loc bag. This will allow you to crush the biscuits. Then, spread them out so that they are in a layer that is flat. The bag should be crushed using the long edge of the rolling pin, and it should be turned over on occasion.

If you find that your bag has a hole in it, you might need to purchase a second bag to use as a backup. About half of the biscuits should be pieces, and the other half should be crumbs. Biscuits are: The same thing as Marie biscuits in the United States is called Maria Cookies. There is also the option of using vanilla tea cookies.

Additions: If you want to give these rum balls a true rum flavour, you may do so by adding one teaspoon of rum extract to the mixture. An additional delightful addition to these biscuits is the addition of ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of peppermint flavouring.

Notes

My recipes are measured in metric cups and spoons, which are larger than the cups and spoons used in the United States. Please take this into consideration. It is acceptable to measure most recipes using cups and spoons from the United States; however, for the most precise outcome, it is recommended that you use the weight measurement, which is in grammes.
