Carne Asada Tacos Recipe

Ingredients :

CARNE ASADA MARINADE

  • 1/2 cup lime juice, (from 3 limes)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice , (from 1 orange)
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 2 teaspoons ground paprika
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 green onions, trimmed and diced
  • 2 pounds skirt steak

CARNE ASADA TACOS

  1. 1/4 white onion, peeled and diced
  2. Small bunch cilantro, diced
  3. Flour tortillas
  4. Guacamole, as garnish
  5. Limes, as garnish

Instructions :

TO MAKE THE CARNE ASADA MARINADE

  1. Place the lime juice, salt, cumin, coriander, garlic cloves, vinegar, olive oil, and green onions in a big bowl or casserole dish. You could also use a gallon plastic bag for this.
  2. Mix and smooth everything out with a whisk. Cover the skirt steak on both sides with the sauce before adding it. Place the bowl in the fridge and cover it with plastic wrap or a lid. Let it sit there for at least 4 hours, but ideally overnight.

TO COOK AND ASSEMBLE THE CARNE ASADA TACOS

  1. Set your grill to high for 10 minutes before you’re ready to cook it. Take the skirt steak out of the marinade and
  2. use paper towels or a clean kitchen towel to pat it dry.
  3. Put oil on the grill’s grate. After that, put the steak on the grill. Place the meat on the grill and cover it. Cook for three to four minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  4. I would cook each side for 4 to 5 minutes if you want it medium.
  5. After taking the meat off the grill, let it rest for 10 minutes before cutting it. Cut it across the grain and sprinkle some flaky sea salt on top.
  6. Stack the tacos by putting a few pieces of meat on top of each tortilla. Then add a handful of chopped white onion, guacamole, radishes, and cotija cheese.

How To Cook Carne Asada Tacos:

  1. For about 10 minutes, I like to heat up my grill. The grates should be very hot.
  2. Use some neutral oil to grease the grates. After that, put the meat on the grates.
  3. For medium-rare, cook for two to three minutes on each side. I would cook it a little longer, about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, if you want it brown.
  4. Take a 10-minute break. This really keeps the juices in.
  5. Then cut the meat across the grain. It goes well with warm tortillas, onions, cilantro, cotija cheese, and different salsas.

Notes:

Tips and Tricks

  • I’m not usually very strict about marinating, but this recipe really needs to be marinated overnight. It adds just the right amount of sourness, which is SO good.
  • Any extra meat can be chopped up and added to eggs, tacos, or a lot of other things.
