Ingredients
For Cake Mix
- 15.25 ounce butter pecan cake mix ((1 box), I used Betty Crocker)
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
For Poke Cake
- 15 ounce dulce de leche ((1 jar))
- 32 fluid ounce cool whip (or whipped cream)
- ½ cup pecans (chopped)
- ½ cup toffee bits
Instructions
Set an oven temperature of 350°F and coat a 9″ by 13″ pan with cooking spray.
Prepare the butter pecan cake mix as directed on the packet. Once the cake is golden and a toothpick placed into the centre of the cake comes out clean, pour the mixture into the prepared pan and bake. It ought to take roughly half an hour.
Make holes in the cake all over the place using the wooden spoon handle. Make sure the dulce de leche is pourable by giving the jar a little swirl after 30 seconds in the microwave. To cover the holes, pour the dulce de leche on top.
Drizzle the cake with cool whip or whipped cream, then top with pecan and toffee bits as garnish.
Cut into square pieces and present.
Notes
White cake mix will do if butter pecan cake mix is unavailable. Use melted butter instead of vegetable oil.
A thick caramel sauce made with sugar and milk is called dulce de leche. It can be used in place of condensed milk and caramel.
Replace the cool whip with an equivalent amount of whipped cream if you don’t like it.
