INGREDIENTS

  • 4 wild caught salmon fillets about 1/2 pound or 250 grams each, skin off or on
  • Salt and pepper, to season
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (mild, sweet or smokey)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped or minced
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice, (plus extra to serve)
  • Lemon wedges to serve

INSTRUCTIONS

Place the oven shelf in the centre of the appliance. Set the oven to medium heat, broil or grill.

Use paprika, salt, and pepper to season salmon. Put aside.

Melt the butter in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the soy sauce, honey, and water; let the flavours mix and warm through. Incorporate the lemon juice and thoroughly mix to blend all the flavours.

Sear each fillet (skin-side down if there is any skin) for 3–4 minutes, or until golden, brushing the tops with the pan juices. Add the salmon steaks to the sauce in the pan. Add pepper and salt to taste (if desired).

Optional: Surround the salmon with lemon wedges for a sharper lemon flavour.

After giving the salmon one more basting, put the pan in the oven and broil or grill it for a further five to six minutes, or until the salmon is cooked to your preference and the tops are beautifully browned.

Drizzle with the sauce and squeeze on little lemon juice to serve. Serve over rice, with a salad, or with steamed veggies.

Notes

Prepare Ahead Instructions: The salmon can be marinated up to 4 hours ahead of time. You can prolong to eight hours if necessary.

Sides: Serve the salmon with rice and steamed broccoli to round off the dinner. Drizzled with glaze, both are fantastic. As the salmon bakes, you can cook both of them.

Is it possible to utilise frozen salmon? You can use raw salmon fillets that have been frozen. Before usage, fully defrost.

Can I use chicken in place of the salmon? Yes, you can bake boneless chicken breasts or thighs in place of the salmon for a longer period of time until the chicken is thoroughly cooked. Instead of marinating the chicken for 15 minutes, give it closer to an hour.
