Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Grease a baking dish measuring 9 inches by 9 inches and line it with parchment paper, making sure to leave some overhang on the sides so that it can be removed easily.
  • For the crust and topping, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl. Mix until everything is evenly distributed. Combine thoroughly.

  • Incorporate the cold butter cubes into the mixture of dry ingredients. Incorporate the butter into the mixture by using a pastry cutter or your fingers. Continue doing this until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs and there are no large chunks of butter left.
  • Set aside approximately one cup of the mixture for use as the topping, and reserve the rest. It is necessary to press the remaining mixture into the bottom of the baking dish that has been prepared in order to form the crust.

  • For the apple filling, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice in a separate bowl.
  • Mix until everything is evenly distributed. Make sure the apples are evenly coated by tossing them.

  • In the baking dish, spread the apple filling over the crust, making sure that it is distributed evenly throughout the dish.
  • When you are ready to make the crisp topping, sprinkle the crust mixture that you have reserved evenly over the top of the apple filling.

  • For forty to forty-five minutes, or until the apples are tender and the top is golden brown, bake the apples in an oven that has been preheated.
  • As soon as the bars are removed from the oven, place them on a wire rack and allow them to cool completely in the baking dish.

  • When they have reached room temperature, remove the bars from the baking dish by using the overhang of the parchment paper. You should place them on a cutting board and then slice them into bars of the size that you want.
  • A delectable dessert can be made by serving the apple crisp bars on their own or by topping them with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
