Anthony Edwards is over the Michael Jordan comparisons: Timberwolves star explains why he wants comp ‘to stop’: Anthony Edwards has had the best playoffs of any NBA star so far. The Timberwolves guard wowed basketball fans with how hard he played as Minnesota swept the Phoenix Suns. He scored 40 points to help the Timberwolves beat Kevin Durant’s new superteam in four games and win their first playoff series since 2004.
Anthony Edwards is over the Michael Jordan comparisons: Timberwolves star explains why he wants comp ‘to stop’
It got even more exciting after Edwards led the Timberwolves to a 106–99 win over the Nuggets in Game 1 of their series. It was Edwards’ 43rd game with 40 or more points in the playoffs. He and Kobe Bryant are the only two players in NBA history to do so when they were 22 or younger.
Edwards hasn’t minded all the attention that has come his way because of his great results, but he is sick of being compared to Michael Jordan. “I want it to stop,” Edwards told Fox Sports when they asked about the Jordan comments. He is the best person ever. “I’m not like him at all.”

Comparisons between Anthony Edwards and Michael Jordan There have been a lot of parallels between Edwards and Jordan. Some former players, like Kevin Garnett and Charles Barkley, have said that the two are a lot alike.
“He looks like a young Michael Jordan from 1984,” Garnett said of Edwards. “I’m watching how he’s coming through the lane … he turn the corner, if you ain’t there, he’s throwing you in.” The connection was made by Barkley to Edwards after Edwards told ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt that he wanted to “kill everything in front of me.”
“It reminded me so much of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, they would kill you to win a game,” he said. “Today there aren’t many players because everyone wants to be buddies.” It looks like Anthony Edwards is letting everyone know. “I’m not going to wait for you guys to give me something. I’m going to handle everything. “I love it.”
What does Edwards think about the comparisons? Are you thinking that he doesn’t want the weight of high standards to bring him down? He told Fox Sports, “No, no pressure.” “It’s just not possible.” Edwards makes a good point.
When all was said and done, Jordan won six NBA titles and led the league in scoring ten times, including seven years in a row from 1986–1987 to 1992–1993. Even though Edwards has been great, this is only his fourth season and he has only won one final series.
So, it’s too early to compare the two, even though their games do have some clear connections.

It looks like the 22-year-old is on a fast track to becoming one of the faces of the league, no matter what Edwards thinks. What does he really think about that? He is still only thinking about one thing: winning.
He told Fox Sports, “I don’t really care.” I don’t care if they pick me or someone else to be the face of the league. It doesn’t bother me. I’m just wanting to win with my team. Being the face of the league doesn’t bother me much. It would be great if my team could be the league’s face.
Of course, Edwards will become the face of the league if he keeps leading the Timberwolves to win. He thinks it could happen as soon as the playoffs are over. “A healthy Timberwolves team, I see us winning the championship this year,” he stated.
