1. After placing the frozen pierogies and water in a medium bowl that is safe for the microwave, cover the bowl with plastic wrap. For two minutes, microwave on High, and stir. Continue to thaw the food by microwaving it on High for one and a half to two minutes. Put the pierogies in the dish in a uniform layer. Add some sausage on top.
2. Prepare the mixture by whisking together the cream cheese, sour cream, chicken broth, and pepper in a medium bowl. One-half cup of cheddar cheese and one-third cup of green onions should be mixed together. The remaining green onions should be set aside for topping.
3. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the pierogies in an equal layer. Bake for 22 to 27 minutes, or until the middle is completely heated through and the temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover with foil.
Remove the cover and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top; bake for three to five minutes, or until the cheese has melted. Sprinkle with the green onions that were set aside.
