Instructions

Put the melted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a mixing bowl. Add the creamy peanut butter and mix well. Mix everything together until it turns into a dough-like substance.

With your hands, form the peanut butter paste into small balls that are about 1 inch across. Put them on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.

For about 30 minutes, put them in the fridge to firm up. While the peanut butter balls are chilling, heat the coconut oil and semisweet chocolate chips in a bowl that can go in the microwave.

Stir the mixture every 30 seconds until it is smooth and melted. Take the peanut butter balls out of the fridge that have been cold.

Dip each ball all the way through with a toothpick or skewer stuck into the hot chocolate. Let any extra chocolate drip off, then put the chocolate-covered balls back on the baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.

To make “stems” for the nuts, cut the pretzel sticks in half. To make an acorn shape, put a half of a pretzel stick into the top of each chocolate-covered peanut butter ball.

If you want, you can make the top of each truffle look like the cap of an acorn by adding chocolate sprinkles or chopped nuts.

Put the truffles back in the fridge for about an hour to let the chocolate set totally.

Expert Tips

If you want your truffle mixture to be smooth, use creamy peanut butter. If you use chunky peanut butter, the density may change.

If the peanut butter mixture is too sticky to roll into balls, put it back in the fridge for another 15 to 30 minutes. This will help it get a little firmer.

Move quickly when you dip the peanut butter balls into the melted chocolate so they don’t get too soft and hard to handle.

If you want to try something different, dip the treats in dark chocolate or white chocolate.

Once the truffles are cool, put them in a jar that won’t let air in and put it in the fridge for up to a week. Before you serve them, let them warm up to room temperature for the best taste and texture.

Notes

Decorating your candies can be done in any way you like. For an extra touch of class, drizzle melted white chocolate over the top or sprinkle cocoa powder on top.

These Peanut Butter Chocolate Acorn Truffles are a fun treat to make yourself and give to family and friends. Put them in a pretty box or tin to make a nice and tasty gift.

Don’t be afraid to try out different tastes and ingredients! For a new take on this old dish, you can add chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or even a pinch of cinnamon to the peanut butter mix.
