Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Either grease and flour a round cake pan measuring 9 inches in diameter, or line it with parchment paper to make removal easier.

  • Flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cardamom should be mixed together in a large mixing bowl using a whisk until their ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  • Eggs should be beaten in a separate bowl until they become pale and foamy.

  • While continuing to beat the mixture, gradually add the olive oil until it is completely incorporated into the mixture.
  • In the mixture of eggs and oil, incorporate the freshly squeezed orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract by stirring them together.

  • While stirring gently, gradually pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients until they are almost completely combined.
  • Take care not to overmix the ingredients, as doing so can lead to a cake that is dense.

  • After the cake pan has been prepared, pour the batter into it and spread it out evenly.
  • Bake for thirty to thirty-five minutes in an oven that has been preheated, or until a toothpick that has been inserted into the centre comes out clean.

  • After the cake has finished baking, take it out of the oven and allow it to cool for approximately ten minutes in the pan.
  • After that, place it on a wire rack so that it can cool down completely.

  • After it has cooled, sprinkle powdered sugar over the top of the cake to add a decorative touch.
  • The addition of fresh orange slices as a garnish is another way to add an additional punch of flavour and visual appeal to the dish.
