Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

Instructions:

Break up the garlic and parsley into small pieces and mix them with the ground beef and pork in a big bowl. Add the egg, milk, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Mix until all the ingredients are well mixed in.Form the mixture into meatballs that are about 1 1/2 inches across. About 16 meatballs should come out of this.

Put 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a big skillet and heat it over medium-high heat. Make sure the meatballs don’t crowd the pan when you add them. It will take about 8 to 10 minutes of frying until all sides are brown. This might need to be done in groups. After the meatballs are cooked, put them on a plate with paper towels on it to drain the extra oil.

Get the sauce ready:

Put the tomato sauce in a large pot and heat it over medium sized heat. For some heat, you can add red pepper flakes if you want to. Add pepper and salt to taste.Add the meatballs that have been cooked slowly to the sauce. Let the meatballs cook all the way through and soak up the sauce’s flavors for about 20 minutes on low heat.

Get the rolls ready:

Warm the oven up to 190°C (375°F).
Cut the hero rolls in half down the middle. Put them on a baking sheet with the cut side facing up. Add a little olive oil to the cut sides.
Warm the oven up and toast the rolls for five to seven minutes, or until they are lightly brown.
Get the Meatball Parm Heroes together:

Take the rolls out of the oven after they’re done. Place four meatballs on each bottom half, making sure they are evenly spread. The meatballs should have extra tomato sauce on top of them.Add a lot of grated mozzarella cheese and a little grated Parmesan cheese on top of the meatballs and sauce.

Nutrition Tips:

Homemade Marinara Sauce: To get a stronger taste, use garlic, onions, olive oil, canned tomatoes, and a mix of Italian herbs to make your own marinara sauce. Let it cook for at least 30 minutes so the flavors can form.Options for Bread: Hero rolls are the classic choice, but you can also use ciabatta or baguette for a different taste and structure.

Changes to the Cheese: For a different taste, try using different cheeses like provolone or a mix of mozzarella and cheddar.
This Meatball Parm Hero sandwich is hearty and warm, and it’s great for a family dinner or a snack on game day. With soft meatballs, flavorful sauce, and melted cheese all inside a toasted roll, this is a meal that you will never forget. Have fun!
