Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 & 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or extract
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 1 & 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  • Using a hand mixer, combine the butter and cream cheese in a large bowl and cream them together until they are completely smooth. Add the powdered sugar until it is completely incorporated.

  • Mix in the egg, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt. In order to blend, mix. Mix in the flour gradually until it is completely combined, scraping the sides of the bowl as necessary. Remain in the refrigerator for a period of one hour.
  • Set the oven temperature to 375 degrees. Sugar and cinnamon should be combined in a small basin and stirred together. Put aside for later.

  • Make balls of dough that are approximately two teaspoons in size and measure one inch in diameter. Keep rolling until the cinnamon sugar mixture is completely covered. Place approximately two inches apart on a cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for eight to nine minutes, or until the mixture is almost completely set. It is difficult to determine when these cookies are ready since they will puff up but will not become a golden brown colour.

  • Be sure not to overbake them. After ten minutes, allow the baking sheet to cool down. Place cookies on a wire rack and allow them to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  1. You can easily double or halve this recipe depending on how many people you are serving.
  2. These cookies can be frozen, see my tips above.
  3. These need to chill before baking, make sure that you do not skip this step.
  4. These should be baked on a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet to reduce spreading.

What are Cookies with Cream Cheese?
If you’ve never had a Cream Cheese Cookie, they are soft, chewy, and, as you might guess, very tasty!

I’ve had them plain before, but I really wanted to improve the recipe by adding something new. Most people roll the dough balls in powdered sugar, but I chose to roll mine in cinnamon sugar instead!

This gives the outside a little crunch and a nice cinnamon kick! What’s not to like? I don’t understand why I didn’t try this before.

How to make Cinnamon Cream Cheese Cookies:

  • Using a hand mixer, mix the butter and cream cheese in a big bowl until the mixture is smooth. Add the powdered sugar slowly until it is all mixed in.
  • Salt, baking powder, and vanilla should all be added. Mix things together. Slowly add the flour and scrape the sides of the bowl as needed to make sure it’s fully mixed in. Put it in the fridge for an hour to let it rest.

  • Warm the oven up to 375 degrees. Put the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix them together. Put away.
  • Make balls out of dough that are about an inch across and made from about two teaspoons of dough. Roll until you’re covered in the cinnamon sugar mix. Place about 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • After 8 to 9 minutes, the cake is almost set. It’s hard to tell when these cookies are done because they will puff up but not turn golden brown. Ten minutes of cooling on the baking sheet. Place the cookies on a wire rack and let them cool all the way down.

How to Store:

Store cream cheese cookies in an airtight container, they should keep for up to 2 days, any longer you will want to play in the refrigerator to extend the life.

You can also freeze cream cheese cookies for up to three months in as well in an airtight container, you can defrost on your countertop or in the refrigerator.
