Instructions

  • Warm Up the Oven: Warm up your oven to 350°F (175°C). Set aside a 9×13-inch baking pan that has been greased.
  • To make the crust, put the flour and sugar in a bowl and mix them together. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the cold butter until the mixture looks like big crumbs.

  • Make an even layer of the mixture in the bottom of the baking pan that has been prepared. After the oven is hot, bake the crust for 15 to 18 minutes, or until it is lightly golden brown.
  • Get the pecan filling ready. Put the corn syrup, sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract and salt in a large bowl and mix them together using an electric mixer. Add the chopped pecans and mix them in.

  • Put the bars together: After the crust is baked, spread the pecan filling out evenly on top of it.
  • Put the pan back in the oven and bake for another 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the filling is set. Let the pan cool down on a wire rack after taking it out of the oven.

  • To make the chocolate topping, put the chocolate chips and heavy cream in a bowl that can go in the microwave.
  • Stir the mixture every 30 seconds while heating it in the microwave until the chocolate melts and it is smooth.

  • You can also put the bowl over a pot of simmering water and stir the chocolate and cream until they are smooth.
  • To add the chocolate layer, wait until the pecan bars are cool and then pour the melted chocolate mixture on top. Use a spatula to spread it out evenly.

  • The chocolate will set faster if you put the pan in the fridge or let it set at room temperature.
  • Cut and Serve: Cut the bars into squares or rectangles with a sharp knife after the chocolate topping has set.

  • You can use a damp cloth to clean the knife between cuts for clean slices. Put these rich Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars on a platter and watch them go fast!

Tips for Success

You could add a splash of bourbon or whisky to the pecan filling to make it taste even better.
You can line the baking pan with baking paper, leaving enough overhang on the sides to make it easy to take off. This will keep the crust from sticking.

You can keep these bars at room temperature for up to three days in an airtight container, or you can put them in the fridge to keep them fresh longer.
