Mushroom and Leek Quiche with Gruyere Recipe -Step By Step Guide

Quiche is a dish that is not only delicious but also versatile, since it may be served for breakfast, brunch, or even in the evening. The earthy mushrooms, aromatic leeks, and creamy Gruyere cheese that are combined in this quiche make for a dish that is not only tasty but also extremely heavy. Whether you are hosting a brunch party or you are simply looking for a cosy meal to eat at home, this recipe is sure to attract a lot of people’s attention.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms (such as cremini or button)
  • 1 leek, white and light green parts only, thinly sliced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions :

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature while you prepare the filling. This is the case if you are using a pie crust that you purchased from a store. To melt the butter, place it in a big skillet and set the heat to medium.

Sauté the sliced mushrooms for approximately five to seven minutes, or until they have become a golden brown colour and are soft. Add salt and pepper to taste, and season with salt. After they have finished cooking, place the mushrooms on a platter and set them aside.
To the same skillet, add the leeks that have been sliced.

Cook them for around five minutes, or until they become translucent and tender. At regular intervals, stir them to keep them from catching fire. When the food is done, take it from the heat and set it aside. The eggs and heavy cream should be mixed together in a bowl using a whisk until they are thoroughly blended. Add salt and pepper to taste, and season with salt.

Place the pie crust that has already been formed in a pie dish or tart pan and gently push it to conform to the shape of the dish. You might need to cut any excess dough that is hanging over the edges of the crust if you are using a crust that you purchased from a store. The mushrooms and leeks that have been cooked should be distributed evenly around the bottom of the pie dough.

On top of the vegetables, sprinkle the shredded Gruyere cheese that has been shredded. Pour the egg and cream mixture over the mushrooms, leeks, and cheese in a meticulous manner, making sure that it is distributed equally among the ingredients. Place the quiche in an oven that has been warmed and bake it for thirty-five to forty minutes, or until the filling has become firm and the crust has turned a golden brown colour.

A knife should be inserted into the centre of the quiche to determine whether or not it is done. If the knife comes out clean, the quiche is ready to be served. The quiche should be removed from the oven once it has been baked and allowed to cool for a few minutes before being sliced.

You can garnish it with freshly chopped parsley if you so enjoy. A crisp green salad or your favourite brunch sides should be served alongside the Quiche with Mushrooms & Leeks and Gruyere cheese, which may be served either warm or at room temperature. Have fun!

Tips :

Prepare the Ingredients: Before adding the mushrooms and leeks to the quiche, make sure that they have been cooked sufficiently. This will avoid the filling from becoming overly filled with liquid. Blind Bake: If you want to avoid having a bottom crust that is filled with liquid, you should think about blind baking the pie crust for a few minutes before adding the filling.

Adjustments: You are free to make adjustments to the dish by including other veggies like spinach, bell peppers, or onions that have been caramelised before serving. Cheese Options: Although Gruyere contributes a flavour that is reminiscent of nuts, you can experiment with other cheeses such as Swiss, Fontina, or cheddar to provide a variety of flavour profiles.

Fresh Herbs: To achieve a more complex flavour profile, it is recommended to include fresh herbs such as thyme, rosemary, or tarragon.
Quiche can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator since it can be frozen. To serve, simply warm in the oven for a few minutes.
Accompany with With the addition of a side salad, roasted potatoes, or fresh fruit, you may create a complete meal by serving the quiche with these accompaniments.
