INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup unsalted buttercut into cubes
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  •  cup diced ham
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

INSTRUCTIONS

Put the oven on to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Put a baking sheet in the oven and prepare it by lining it with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt into a big bowl and mix them together. After adding the chilled butter, use your fingers to incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

To make a soft dough, stir in the buttermilk, cheese, ham, and chives until they are combined. The dough should be kneaded three to four times on a surface that has been lightly dusted with flour until it comes together. Roll the dough out into a circle that is eight inches in diameter and approximately one inch thick, and then cut it into eight wedges.

Notes

In order to maintain the temperature of the butter while we are preparing the other components, we prefer to remove it from the refrigerator, cut it into cubes, and then set it back in the refrigerator. To keep the scones fresh for up to a week, place them in a zip-top bag or a Tupperware container and place them in the refrigerator until you are ready to consume them again.

The dough can be frozen by first separating it into wedges and then placing them on a cookie sheet. To keep the dough frozen for up to two months, place it in a bag with a zip-top closure and store it in the freezer. When you bake them, remove them from the freezer and place them in the oven immediately; however, leave them to bake for an additional two to four minutes.

order to freeze the cooked scones, first allow them to completely cool, then place them in zip-top bags, press out any air that may be present, and seal the bags. You can keep it in the freezer for up to two months.
