How to Freeze Apple Pie Filling :

One easy way to keep homemade apple pie filling for later use is to freeze it.

Follow this recipe to make your own apple pie filling. Then, let it cool down totally. Before you freeze it, make sure it’s at room temperature.

For freezer-safe containers, choose:For keeping liquids, use containers that don’t let air in and can go in the freezer, or heavy-duty freezer bags. Make sure they’re dry and clean.

Divide the Filling: Spoon the apple pie filling into the containers or bags after it has cooled. Leave some room at the top so that it can expand when it freezes. Leaving about an inch of room between the containers will help them not to burst.

Take Out the Air: Squeeze out as much air as you can from freezer bags before you seal them. Put a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper directly on top of the filling before closing the container so that it doesn’t let air in. This keeps you from getting freezer burn.

Label and Date: Put the date and contents on the packages or bags so you can find them quickly later. For the best taste, use the frozen pie filling within 3 to 6 months the most.

Freeze: Lay the containers or bags flat in the freezer and make sure they don’t get stacked until they are totally frozen. You can stack them to save room after they’re frozen.

In order to use the frozen apple pie filling, you must first put it in the fridge and let it thaw overnight. If the recipe says to, you can then use it in your pie.

Remember that apples may not be the same after being frozen, but they should still work well in pies and other baked goods. This is a great way to keep the homemade pie filling fresh until you need it.
