Instructions

Prepare the Broth:

  • The vegetable broth, onion, carrot, ginger, star anise, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and cardamom pods should all be combined in a large pot.
  • While the heat is set to medium, bring the broth to a simmer. In order to allow the flavours to combine, turn the heat down to a low setting and let it simmer gently for thirty to forty minutes.
  • After the broth has been simmering for some time, strain it to remove the solids and then return the liquid to the pot.
  • The soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and salt as desired should be stirred in at this point. Make any necessary adjustments to the seasoning to suit your tastes. The broth should be kept warm over a low heat.

Prepare the Noodles and Toppings:

  • After cooking the rice noodles until they are al dente, the instructions on the package should be followed. Drain, then set aside for later use.
  • In the meantime, prepare the toppings by slicing the shiitake mushrooms, the tofu, and the green onions. Additionally, gather the bean sprouts, cilantro, Thai basil, mint leaves, lime wedges, and any condiments that you would like to use (Sriracha sauce and hoisin sauce).

Assemble the Pho:

  • The noodles should be distributed evenly among the serving bowls.
  • Place the sliced mushrooms and tofu on top of the noodles in an arrangement.

  • The noodles and toppings should be completely submerged in the hot broth, which should be ladled over them.
  • It is recommended that the pho be served hot, with the bean sprouts, green onions, herbs, lime wedges, and any condiments that are desired being served on the side.
