Air Fryer Grilled Cheese With Tomato Sandwiches Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese shredded
  • 1 teaspoon basalmic vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter melted

INSTRUCTIONS

Lightly coat each slice of bread on both sides with butter.

Place tomato slices, ½ cup of shredded Gruyere cheese, and drizzle balsamic vinegar over each sandwich before assembling.

Arrange the assembled sandwiches in a single layer within the air fryer’s basket.

For 8 to 10 minutes, air fry the tomato and cheese sandwiches at 370 degrees Fahrenheit, turning them halfway through. When they are the desired golden, crispy brown, remove from the air fryer.

NOTES

The 5.8 quart Cosori air fryer with a basket type, 1700 watts, was used to make this dish. You might need to slightly modify the cooking time if your air fryer is a different size or brand. Every air fryer has a somewhat distinct cooking method.

To vary the flavors, try using different cheeses like Swiss, American, or Provolone.

FAQS

CAN I USE A DIFFERENT CHEESE OTHER THAN GRUYERE?

Indeed! I adore experimenting with different cheeses in this dish. For added taste, you can also use mozzarella, American, or Mexican cheese blends.

CAN I STORE LEFTOVER GRILLED TOMATO AND CHEESE?

The bread will ultimately become mushy due to the tomato, so I wouldn’t suggest preserving the sandwiches. Without a doubt, these are meant to be consumed right away off the stove.

HOW DO I KEEP THE BREAD FROM FLYING IN MY AIR FRYER?

Since sourdough bread is a little heavier than regular light white bread, the bread didn’t fly everywhere in the air fryer, which was a relief. If your bread isn’t sticking together, use a few toothpicks to hold it in place.

CAN I ADD MORE TO THIS SANDWICH TO MAKE IT MORE FILLING?

If you want to make this sandwich more filling, consider adding in sliced turkey, roast beef, or ham.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do! It’s a fun sandwich that’s not only light, but full of flavor.
